Do I still need a website in 2026, or is social media enough?

You still need a website. Social media rents you an audience on someone else's platform, with their rules and their algorithm. Your own site is something you own, that shows up when people Google you or ask an AI for a recommendation, and that builds trust in a way a feed cannot. Social is great for reach, but the website is where people decide to trust and buy.

Think of social as the top of the funnel and your site as where the decision happens. People discover you on Instagram or TikTok, then they check your website before they book, buy, or enquire. No site, and you lose them right at the moment they were ready.

There is also the search shift: more people now ask Google's AI or ChatGPT for recommendations, and those tools pull from real websites with proper structure, not from your feed. No site means you are invisible in that answer.

And platforms change. Reach dries up, accounts get restricted, algorithms move. Your website is the one thing you actually own and control. For any real business, it is not optional.
